Strategic Seminar for Leadership Teams
7Mountains' way of running strategic seminars:
When a leadership team needs a strategic seminar
You have more priorities than you can fund. Meetings end without a decision. Two people on your leadership team disagree about where the company is going, and no one has said it out loud. Next year's plan looks like last year's.
A strategic seminar is how you get the whole team in one room and settle it.
What happens before the two days
Before the two days, each member of your leadership team completes a strategic survey we have refined across dozens of scaling companies, then sits down with us one on one. People tell an outside party what they will not say across the table from their CEO or their peers. That is the whole point: the priorities nobody actually agrees on, the decisions that keep getting reopened, the resentment that never makes it into a meeting.
During the seminar
We run the seminar ourselves, and it is built to produce decisions rather than discussion. Across the two days your leadership team:
- gets honest about where the company actually is
- agrees on the ambition for the next three years
- cuts a long list of priorities down to the few that matter
- decides what to stop doing
- puts a name and a deadline against each priority
- agrees on how you will measure success
The hard part is rarely choosing what to do. It is agreeing what to drop, and getting the two people who disagree to commit to the same call.
